Dale Hudjik at Spun With Tears hosts a Thursday photography challenge where a theme is announced, and then participants choose a photograph that they have taken relating to the topic and post it on their blog. To link back to the post and add your blog to the list click here. I found out about this thanks to Vicky from Reading At The Beach after she participated in the challenge.
This is a photo taken by my husband in Kilkenny, Ireland, while on a bus tour that we took during our honeymoon last October. The trip of a lifetime!

That is an interesting face that you have posted. Any idea of the origin of the statue or any meaning that it brings?
ReplyDeleteHope you have a nice day.

ReplyDeleteCool photo. I have been to Kilkenny, but I don't think I saw that face. I just googled the name on the statue and got a little history lesson, too.
ReplyDeleteCool face, who is it supposed to be? My husband and I have been to Ireland twice, 2000 and 2007 and had a great time both times. It is one of those places that you just have to go visit before you die!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks to everyone for their compliments. For those who have inquired, this is a sculpture of Saint Canice, made of Kilkenny limestone and Bronze, by a Spanish sculptor Saturio Alonso back in 1999.
ReplyDeleteCounty Kilkenny is named after Saint Canice who was born in 514 AD. The sculpture is a symbol of Celtic mythology and the head is the symbol of spiritually.
What an interesting face!
ReplyDeletethat is a great face. thanks for telling us the meaning. the expression is somewhere exactly between a smile and a frown. arresting.
ReplyDeleteI would very much like to see photos taken by you ! But I must say this statue has very eloquent face. You don't know this but I collect souvenir dolls. I have a collection of 500 dolls and large collection of Russian dolls. And that doll in pic is a Russian doll from Moscow distrik.
